Located in the Penha de Franco district to the east of the city. The cinema was planned by architects Zarzor & Kogan to be named Cine Yara, but opened as the Cine Jupiter on 4th April 1950 with Olivia de Havilland in “The Heiress”. Seating was provided in orchestra & balcony levels. It was operated by Jose Chamma Empressa Cinematografico Bandeirantes Ltd. (Jose Chamma had died before the cinema opened).
The Cine Jupiter had closed by 2010 and by 2016 was in retail use as a Besni store.
