Teatro Palace appears to have opened in 1925. The theatre was established after Paramount Studios set up a distribution office in Guatemala City. Located in a busy retail block, the Teatro Palace was the major theatre to see Spanish-language silent and early sound era American films. The Teatro Palace was surpassed by the $1 million Teatro Lux which opened ten years later. The Teatro Palace appears to have been repositioned as a second-tier movie house.
