The Royal Cinema was opened by April 1950 and was operated by Percides Demetreo & Co. Seating was provided for 854 in the stalls, 355-seats in the balcony and 7-seats in the loge. The Royal Cinema screened American & British first run productions. The projectors were by Simplex and a RCA Photophone sound system was installed.
