The first Wonderland Theatre building was located on the corner of Oak Street and Chickasaw Street in downtown Sallisaw, and opened on May 11, 1911. The proprietors (or owners) since its opening were Messrs Swartz and Bugher. It was destroyed by fire in 1912. It was rebuilt and reopened in January 1916. When it opened, the Wonderland Theatre began fighting against the nearby Lyric Theatre, proprietor J.F. Burns, which installed moving pictures since 1909, which lost the fight after the owner Mr. Bracey, sold his Lyric Theatre to Mr. Shaffer of Fort Smith, Arkansas in February 1914.

The old Wonderland Theatre building closed in January 1926 for relocation of the ‘New’ Wonderland Theatre" across the street which opened a month later.
