Rose Theatre

The Rose Theatre opened in 1947. A theatrical façade was later added to this Quonset Hut style building. The property was renovated in 1955 including upgraded sound and air conditioning and a CinemaScope screen. The theatre closed in September 1957 and was used as an Army surplus store. After standing idle it was razed to become a parking lot.

I’ve uploaded a photo of the Rose and also a page from the August 31, 1950 Opelousas Daily World on which there are ads for all the theatres in town operating at that time.
