Ritz Cinema

Located in Blandford Forum, Dorset. The Electric Picture Palace was a conversion of cottages adjacent to the White Hart Inn. It was rebuilt in 1927 by Percival James Carter (a music hall entertainer) and it re-opened as the New Palace Cinema with all seating on a single floor. In 1934 Percival James Carter built a new Place Cinema directly opposite and the New Palace Cinema was closed to become a shop known as Carter’s Bazaar.

In 1940 it was re-opened as the Ritz Cinema mainly to serve the Royal Air Force personnel at nearby Blandford Camp. The Ritz Cinema was closed in 1957. It was later demolished and a branch or Argos store now operates on the site.
