Bio Pictureland

Located in the Redcliff district in the south of the city centre. The Counterslip Chapel became the Counterslip Hall which was taken over by Frank Ogden Smith of Woking, Surrey and converted into the Bio, the first cinema in Bristol. Seating was provided on long wooden forms. It was soon re-named Bio Pictureland and was closed in 1918 following the end of World War I. It was later demolished and a factory was built on the site.
