The Brinkman Opera House was open as early as 1909. By 1926 it was operating as the 300-seat Brinkman’s Theatre screening movies. By 1929 it had been renamed Opera House and the seating capacity had increased to 600. It was still open in 1943 when it had 575-seats. It had closed by 1950.

This was known as the Grafton Theatre when the building was gutted by fire in 1947. The top floor, which contained the theatre, was removed following the fire although the rest of the building remains.
