The Dome Theatre was opened by 1914. As advertised in the La Crosse Tribune, the Rialto Theatre, formerly the Dome Theatre, opened August 2, 1919, with Corinne Griffith in “Miss Ambition”.

While operated by the Cooper Amusement Company, the Rialto Theatre shared advertising space with the Casino Theatre, Strand Theatre and Bijou Theatre. The Rialto Theatre dropped off the listings after October 16, 1920, the day before the opening of Cooper Amusement’s Riviera Theatre.

On April 5, 2008, the La Crosse Tribune published a list of 20 movie theatres that operated in La Crosse over the years and the Rialto Theatre was included.

The Dome Theatre was mentioned in this item from Moving Picture World of January 1, 1916:

“Michael Barry and Michael Abraham have purchased the building occupied by the Dome theater on the north side of La Crosse. They have also purchased the theater from Mr. and Mrs. Henry Liesenfeld, and Barry, who has had photoplay experience in San Francisco and Duluth, will operate it.”
