King's Theatre

Located in the city centre at Railway Square, the entrance was on George Street with another entrance on Harris Street. The King’s Theatre was opened as a cinema on 23rd September 1910. It was independently operated and it was closed in the 1920’s as a silent cinema. It is not known what it was used for after that, but the building still survived in 1987. The auditorium was later demolished, but the entrance on George Street was retained and today houses a McDonalds Restaurant.

It is adjacent to the former entrance of the West’s Pictures cinema, which has its own page on Cinema Treasures.
