The theatre opened in 1932 as the Fairbury Theatre and seated 501. It was renamed the Central Theatre when it was purchased by the McCollum Theatre Circuit. It had a rather plain front facade with a small lobby and small balcony.

The theatre closed in 1955 and was destroyed in a fire in 1957.
