This Drive-In has been closed since Bob and Darlene retired prior to the 2012 season. There has been a new marquee erected (but not quite finished) with the name GEM Drive-In and a website at www.gemdrivein.com, but all the site says is “The Future Home of the Gem Drive-In” To my knowledge, the place has set pretty much in the same state of disrepair for the last 2+ years. I hope it reopens for the 2015 season, but it’s definitely still closed for 2014. Any clue who the new owners might be?
Unless someone else has taken over operation of this drive-in, status should be changed to “Closed”.
are you going to be open this year? since your board got knocked down? We saw it got taken away but I cant find any sites that have any info on this

Darlene Crouse, passed away, in May, 2011. She was 63, & ran the ‘Port & Pike Drive-in’s for around 10 years.
The Harvest Moon Drive-In 1st opened on July 4th, 1952. The film was Red Mountain, staring Alan Ladd. Comerford acquired it in 1956, remodeled the snack bar, etc. & changed the name to ‘PORT Drive-In. http://doctorgrooveband.com/moondrivein-photos-scrpbk.html
I made a small video of the 2008 season. It starts with the day we acquired it, until we closed & changed the name back to the Moon.

We just finshed up the 2009 season with a dusk to dawn show Labor Day Eve. Reopening in April, 2010. Thanks, Crazy Bob’s Harvest Moon drive-in theatre.
Starting in 2009, The Port drive-in will be known as the ‘Moon drive-in. When all of the factors are weighed, It justs makes better sense (& hopefuly, cents!). Thanks, Crazy Bob. http://moondrivein.com
Update: 2008. The Port drive-in now has a new owner. After many years, Bob & Darlene Crouse have retired. I have sold my interest in the Pike drive-in, & have acquired the ‘Port. This is a beautiful theatre. It was originally named “The Harvest Moon drive-in”. It was part of the Comerford chain. Here is the new web site: http://portdrivein.com Thanks, Crazy Bob.
