This very early movie house opened around 1909 on 31st Street between Giles and Calumet Avenues near Dunbar Park in the Prairie Shores neighborhood. The Franklin closed during the 40s and has long since been demolished.

A Hinners theater organ was installed in the Franklin Theater in 1912.
