This was a sub run Prudential house that closed either in the late 1950’s or early 1960’s.

The presumed site of the theater can be seen in the fourth and fifth pictures, the lot with the “For Sale” sign (4), next to “Monica’s Nail Salon.” (5).

According to the Department of Buildings, 132-15 Rockaway Boulevard is not a valid address. The only odd numbers listed are 132-01 through 132-09.

Thanks. I guess we can conclude that the street configuration was probably changed after the theater was demolished, then?

That sounds right to me. The link to the Bridge and Tunnel website returns a 404 file not found error. Maybe you could post the link again.

The photo of the Park Theater looks a lot like the Park Theater in Rockaway Park on B.116th St in the ‘30s or early 40’s. That box office looks very similar to the portable one used during the summer season. About mid September it would be rolled away and you bought your ticket at a window on the right side wall of the first lobby.

The photo that I posted above on 12/6/06 does NOT show this Park Theatre, but the Park Theatre in Rockaway Park. This is confirmed by a comparison with a recent photo of the Rockway Park Theatre in an article about Rockaway Park at www.forgotten-ny.com I apologize for this error, which is partly my fault and the fault of the Long Island Collection of the Queens Public Library, which has the photo identified in its archive as being the Park Theatre in South Ozone Park. I’ll bring this to their attention on my next visit to the library.
