@ Scott, I quit working there about a year before that right after I graduated high school. It was definitely open longer than 6/10/82. But don’t know who operated it. It was a dollar theater for awhile after GCC. I used to go watch movies, but it seemed odd after working there so long. Sure hated to see it torn down. A lot of great memories.

Some records I have from General Cinema show they stopped running this on June 10, 1982. Is it possible somebody else took it over?

I worked at Westgate when I was in high school 12/09 – 06/81. It was the most fun I ever had at work.

The Westage Mall is still there, the Cinema is gone and the mall has been renovated and they have better stores in there now than they did back in the day.

Some of the stores in the mall include Best Buy, Macy’s & Old Navy

The theater was twinned before 1975, the year I moved from Abilene. The information about the seats facing the wrong direction is completely correct. The Exorcist was probably shown there before the twinning and the lines were long. I saw Camelot and Cabaret there. I never heard stereo sound. I think I saw Escape From Witch Mountain and definitely saw Island at the Top of the World there. The blue lighted screen had no curtain, a GCC standard.
