I had an uncle that lived near the Bailey-South Park-Abbott triangle split and I don’t recall that a theatre was ever there.

There was also another “Abbott” Theatre, located at 1298 Abbott near Ridge Rd. It opened Oct.19,1950 and was designed by Louis Greenstein. It was later changed to the “Towne” Theatre. Now Demolished.

Patsy….If your wondering if I’m from either of those towns, the answer is no. I do add theaters from all over the country, but I grew up in Queens NY.

Lost Memory: I see on your profile you have several drive-ins listed and 2 of them are in Jamestown NY and Dunkirk NY!

I drove by that intersection of South Park and Bailey Avenue countless times and there is absolutely no hint that the building had a former life as a theater. It must have been a small theater since the laundromat that’s there now is not huge.

Lost Memory: Thanks for the photo website as I just looked at it. I’ve been looking to see what other Buffalo theatres existed years ago.

Thanks Bryan! 1494 South Park Ave maps correctly for the location given for the Abbott theater.

Lostmemory, I believe that’s the phone number for the laundry business on the front of the building. I did find the address in Google as being 1494 South Park Ave.

Here is a link to a current photo of the site where the Abbott theater was located. The address on that building should be the address for the Abbott theater.
