The Babcock’s have indicated they want to retire and have put the Drive-In on the market for $979,000. They says business has been good and the digital projectors they purchased are fully paid for.

The Hi-Way was built and owned by brothers Morris and Raphael Klein. (It included “the latest in open air movie furniture”.) The 1952-56 Theatre Catalogs listed the exec as Mrs. Frieda Klein. The 1952-66 Motion Picture Almanacs listed the owner as the Klein brothers.

The Daily Freeman Lifestyle wrote that Roger and Sharon Babcock bought the Hi-Way from Morris Klein in 1996. However, over at EnjoyYourIntermission.com (a superb documentary short about the Hi-Way and its workers), it says they purchased the drive-in “in 1976 after having worked there for several years prior.”

The 1978-82 MPAs listed M. Klein as the owner. By the 1984 edition, the Hi-Way had fallen off the MPA list.

I just Google mapped 10769 Route 9W Coxsackie NY and it put the pin right in the middle of the drive-in.

^I know, but it should be “Route 9W” not “Route 9 West”. 9W, with the W, is the actual number. If you put in “Route 9 West” it confuses Google Maps and thinks you’re asking for a different road.

Address is a little off: 10699 State Route 9W is what it should be.

Definitely still open.

I think “done” might have been for the season.

This Drive-In is very clean and pretty. The drive-in is out in the middle of nowhere so you don’t have the traffic noise or anyother kind of noise ruining your movie. The movies can be heard on the radio and not the old speakers. The 3rd screen was just added this yr so thats a nice touch to a nice place. “War of The Worlds” was filmed in Athens NY just 10 to 15 min away from Hi-Way drive-ins in Dec 2004, so the drive-in’s having a premire for the film. I’m going to the Premire. Hope this was helpful. The prices are resonable too.
