GREAT PIC! I walked along that parking lot many many times in the early part of my life! Memories…

It was only a twin. I was the manager there at the time of the twinning until early 80’s when I was transferred to the old Jamestown Mall Twin

How in the heck did they convert that place to 4 screens?

In August 1998 it started appearing in newspaper movie times as the Northland 4.

It was three towards the end. Check the St. Louis Post-Dispatch archives (about 1999) if you don’t believe me.

  1. Once Northland got twinned, it stayed twinned.

How many screens did this theater have when it closed? I believe it might have had three, but I’m not too sure…

Another theatre that I practically “lived” in during the 70’s & 80’s. First movie I remember seeing here was “Car Wash” (of all things!).

Conversion to a two-screen operation took place in late 1976.

The Northland Cinema has been demolished. The whole shopping center, in fact, was recently leveled and replaced with a modern strip center anchored by a Target store.

Theatre opened November 23, 1966 (the same day as its twin, the South County) with “The Liquidator.”

Initial seating capacity (as a single screen venue) was 1000.

Architect was Kenneth Balk of St. Louis.

This place may still be standing vacant. To view a photo, go to www.deadmalls.com, click on the map of Missouri, then click on the Northland page.
