Frank Cotton was the guiding force behind the construction and opening of the Cotton Theatre in 1910. In 1918, the name was changed to the Regent Theatre. In 1991, the theater building was given to the Cedar Falls Community Theatre (CFCT), which restored the building. The newly restored building was named the Oster Regent Theatre in 1994.
The CFCT stages about four shows per year in the theatre. Several traveling performances per year are booked at the Oster Regent Theatre, including a recent (October 2004) appearance by the von Trapp Family Singers.

The official website address of the theatre has changed to http://www.osterregent.org/
Sorry but if I missed it I apologize, where did the Oster part of the name come from. Also the seating need to be updated. Their website lists seating at 472.

This is another 1982 photo.
An article about the theater on the occasion of its centennial celebration: View link
What great marquee “ARTHUR” any time i could slip into Cinema III after a hard day and catch a few minutes of that Dudley Moore Classic I was okay for another shift.
Nice marquee and 100 years old, pretty cool.
The marquee is a little different now… I like that 1982 view, too. The current one is nice, too.
By the way, I clicked on the Photos link that comes up if you hover your cursor over the street view photo, and some of the photos are NOT the Oster Regent Theatre. they are of the Black Hawk Hotel, another historic building that is just down the block from the Oster Regent. I’m not sure how those got in there!
Street view needs to be adjusted to the front of the theatre on Main St. so that you get a full view of the theatre.
