Chakeres Theatres University Cinema was a very successful first run single screen cinema in the college town of Morehead, KY.
Chakeres Theatres closed the cinema in 2009.

I had not been to the University Cinema in years. I was quite disappointed in the wear of the seats, the dirty tile and carpet, and the general disarray of the theatre. I don’t know if this is due to a lack of attention from the company or the incompetence of the manager, but these problems need to be addressed. If you look into and remedy these issues I am sure that you will attract more customers.

The January 22, 1968, issue of Boxoffice said that Chakeres Theatres' University Cinema in Morehead had opened on January 11th. The item gave the seating capacity as 750.
The University Cinema was purchased by EDG Entertainment in 2010 and has been renovated. It is now bing leased to Fuzzy Duck / CoffeeTree books and is being operated as a coffee shop / book store.
