The River Oaks 8 Cinema opened in July of 1991. It was the only theatre built from ground up by Regal in the Huntsville/Decatur area. It is located next to the Colonial Mall in Decatur.

Auditorium 6 measures 52 feet wide and the others are around 28 feet wide. The auditoriums have a mix of different types of stereo sound. The theatre received the Grand Projection Award from 1998 thru 2003. It is considered the best when it comes to a high quality image on the screen.

The Rive Oaks 8 Cinema was closed by Regal on December 16, 2012.

Theatre is scheduled to close in 2012.

Carmike is building a 12-plex inside the mall in 2012, and Regal’s lease on the current 8-plex adjacent to the mall will not be renewed, forcing its closure.
