Joy Theatre

Viewing: Photo | Street View

This great theatre was built in the 1930’s and was a very popular theatre. It operated continuously until the early 1980’s when it was closed due to the owner’s death.

The building sat in disrepair until the mid-1990’s when it was coverted into office/storage space for a local construction company.

The origial facade and marquee are still in place.

The Delk Construction Co. uses the old theatre for storage.

LM, this is one that I have a photo of, will have to figure someway to get it on here. The theatre was still open and the photo is dated 1981.

Time to open a Photobucket account. Just don’t add any “hot” photos to it. :)

LM, if I do that can I link to all the phorno theatres that I have photos of? They are cinema treasures in some people’s minds.
