Chicago Tribune Listing for Parkside Theater - March 5 1922

The Parkside Theater was opened around 1911. A 1946 article in the Daily Herald newspaper describes this early Lombard theater, which stood on Parkside Avenue, as being “on its last legs” so it may have not been around for long after that time.

The January 12, 1946, issue of Boxoffice ran an item headed “Will Raze Old Parkside Theatre in Lombard, Ill.” The property had been sold to clear back taxes and special assessments, and conditions of the sale included the demolition of the building. One line of the item said the Parkside had been built “…some 35 years ago.”

From an advertisement in a 1917 cookbook put out by the Ladies' Aid Society of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lombard:

“THE PARKSIDE is a Lombard institution, for the recreation of Lombard people.

THE BEST in photoplays may always be seen at THE PARKSIDE.

OUR AIM: GOOD CLEAN AMUSEMENT FOR YOUNG AND OLD."
