All of us at Cinema Treasures are excited to announce that we have just added our 20,000th theater! There are now detailed listings from over 115 countries.
Thank you to all of our wonderful, dedicated users. And, of course, without Bryan Krefft and Ken Roe, this milestone would never have been possible.
There are many wonderful things in store for Cinema Treasures in the coming months and we look forward to bringing them to you as soon as we can. In the meantime, please accept our heartiest thanks and appreciation for all of your support over the past seven years.
There’s much more excitement to come in 2008.
Warmest Regards,
Patrick Crowley and Ross Melnick
Co-founders, Cinema Treasures

So few posts on the daily site news sections..There use to be lots years ago….Do you guys see a drop in posts?
Yes. Not long ago there were posts for almost every news item. Now it’s common to see no posts at all. I have also noted a drop in the number of people posting comments to theater pages in my area (Boston and eastern MA). But it’s good to know that CT has reached 20,000 theaters !
Congratulations! I’m looking forward to pictures being added to theaters, maybe video?
As far as the posts on daily news, perhaps the news isn’t as pertinent to some members as it may be to others. If I read a post about a theater in Boise, Idaho, I’m probably not going to be moved to say anything as opposed to it being in my home state closer to me.
Regarding the lower number of news items, while I search the newswire for relevant stories, a lot come from people sending them in as well. The frequency of those submissions changes drastically over the course of the year and I’m not exactly sure why. The last couple months have definitely been slow though.
I’ve been trying to get more pictures in each week and hopefully soon I can get back to regulary contributing columns like I used to a year ago.
Since joining the site nearly three years ago, I’ve posted around 10-20 theaters around my area, some of which I haven’t been to ever but seen listings on the chain’s websites. Currently, out of the 20,000 theaters, only half of them are open and a small fraction of that are in the us. Only 9,000 more to go until the official number of theaters that are still in existence in America, and many more around the world. Cinematour has around 37,297 theaters in its database, about 17,297 more than CT. So there is still time to add a lot more theaters, and many more, in the future.

I don’t post as much about Boston anymore, because most of what needs to be posted is already there. A lot of that is because of the good work done by you you (Ron Salters) and Gerald DeLuca.
Well, CinemaTour also lists Live theatre too, so their higher number is for that reason.
Also, no offense intended to CinemaTour, but they have a lot of incomplete or inaccurate information. I wish we could combine their photos with our text.
shoeshoe14: CinemaTour only lists live theaters that have once been movie theaters, same as this site.
Question: What was the 20,0000th theatre and whare is it at ?
The 20,000th theater was the Sansom Cinema in Philadelphia, PA.
Well done everyone!!!
I am totally addicted to your fabulous site and enjoy every aspect of what is offered; facts, letters, photos and much more. It pleases me to give your address to people whom I think are interested in what you have created.
Also glad to have contributed my hometown listing of Southampton, England.
Thank you for that information.
I love this site too. Heh.
