My impression of Frank Theaters was that by the time they got involved, the theater was already doomed. This always leads me to wonder if it’s better to leave a theater empty and abandoned; or let it have one last hurrah doing what it was built to do, even if it’s painful to witness.
The Frank Theater chain was beyond a disaster and horrible company. Once they got their hands on the Ocean City, Wildwood and Cape May theater they ruined them. So glad they went bankrupt
I used to frequent this theater as a child in the 90s. So sad to learn of its demise.

Article in todays Star Ledger reported that the permit was issued on Monday, and hours later heavy equipment was there tearing it down. Very very sad indeed.

Sadly, I’ve heard it is being demolished this week, but haven’t verified that info.
The theater now appears to be doomed; the City Council has overuled the recommendation of its own Historic Preservation Commission and taken the matter away from the Zoning Board which had been holding hearings on the matter. Story here: View link.

Ugh what a sad ending to a great theater. And to think the Frank company is opening yeat another theater.(see the news from a few days ago)
Here is an update; things are rather dismal – the not-for-profit that ran the theater is out of funds, and the city is demanding a loan it made to the foundation be repaid; the foundation is also being sued by Frank Theatres. Story here: View link

Thanks, the “Live” will get added to functions, likely within a day or two.

Who knows? With soooo much corruption going on in that state now, to be able to accurately predict anything a week or even three days from now is a total gamble. I don’t want to say it’s an ongoing case of business as usual, because that would mean it’s a case of predictability that could then be overcome on that basis. That is, if you know exactly where the mines are planted the sky’s the limit on how far you can go without getting blasted away. But in this case, the position of the underground planted mines are constantly shifting, and it’s not like they’re glow-in-the-dark jellyfish so that you can keep a constant track of where they are next as you enter into the Atlantic Ocean for a midnight swim, even with your head a little tipsy from the Cape May nightclub you were in moments before. That was the old South Jersey. This is the new, what more can I say?
