I beleieve contracts with some of the other film unions are also nearing their ends and this is why many films were rushed into production many months back. Right now, production has somewhat slowed down.
Try Google imsges and others for good close ups of DeNiro and Cybil Sheperd from “Taxi Driver” at a 42nd Street theater boxoffice with posters and stills close by.
I got no bites from a similiar ad of my own from two weeks back. In case you have no luck, many if not all of these magazines are on microfilm in the NYC Public Library for the Performing Arts and also I bellieve one or more of the public libraries in either Beverly Hills or elsewhere in Los Angeles.
Boxoffice magazine also takes small classified ads.
To the above: Not true about no cheap tickets in NYC.
AMC Loews has a dirt cheap early bird matinee of $6.00 and that is even better then the $7.50 price in the nearby suburbs at all of the other chains.
You can’t beat paying $6.00 to visit top shelf theaters like Kips Bay, Lincoln Center, West 34th Street including the real bonus of no boxoffice lines, no inner city thugs, brat, out of control yuppie kids, etc. and you get your choice of seats.
Great posting and NYC feels like one big, sterile Starbucks including too many out of control Yuppie brat children. The entire borough is losing it character. Even Astoria, Queens now has been overtaken by national retailers. Some of Hell’s Kitchen is about the only remaining real nostalgic NYC left…
I believe the fall months are considered slow, so that is why years back you would have films reissued during that season along with films having lesser boxoffice potential being released as well during those months.

Unfortunately, many members of municipal planning boards
have conflicts of interests with building trades, so keep this in mind regarding their stand on the theater’s potential demolition. Too bad some elected officials were not involved early on with the entire situation.
Why did another poster say the theater was being demolished this weekend??

Go to the section “70MM theaters in NY” which also includes New Jersey and Connecticut theaters as well. Some great trade magazine photo pictures and /or newspaper opening day ads. Don’t miss, it’s real good, juicey stuff.
National Amusements had a newspaper ad the other day for manager positions in Westchester County, NY. But I am not sure if that includes the position of General Manager. You might be able to access that ad via www.thejournalnews.com, or contact them via their corporate web site. Be aware that this county is extremely expensive to live in, including apartment rentals.
You may also might consider placing a classified ad in Boxoffice Magazine or even a free ad in craigslist.org.
Crazy Bob: As per the NY Times ad, some, not all, of the theaters running “The Savage is Loose” also ran the fight film. I should have said so in my posting..
Sometimes the producer’s cannot get music rights needed for DVD releases, so they end up substituting other music. This happened with an early video version of “The President’s Analyst” which included a disclaimer in it’s opening credits.
But in all fairness, some director’s like Speilberg, Lucas and Scorcese, have done their own supervised DVD transfers from film. Amen !!
The current Saturday night films run by Channel 13, NYC are likely uncut and superior prints, so keep this in mind if you want something taped.
Years back, a buff of George Reeve’s “Superman” series stated that uncut versions were aired by a NYC TV station run during a holiday weekend marathon , yet the retail videos back then contained cuts!!
And maybe they are unhappy with edited and altered versions of videos and DVD’s. I sure am !! Just the last few days alone I read these comments on imdb.com film listings:
On Her Majesty’s Secret Service: The DVD edited key scenes out so more extras stuff could be included.
Kelly’s Heroes: The original theater intermission scene and music included in the video was deleted from the DVD.
Dark of the Sun: Several different cut video versions released
Star: Read the imdb.com lengthly comments too long to post here about the poor DVD transfer.

And General Cinema only had 4 theaters in the entire state of Connecticut ???

Did the feed get sent over telephone lines or over the airwaves? If so, did the projector require an outside antenna to receive the broadcast signals?
Was the Evel Knievel jump over the Snake River Canyon, early 1970’s, the last of these closed circuit telecasts?
