even thought the Sheen shows are “sold out” at RCMH …rumor has it the that thousand of seats where bought by ticket brokers and they cannot resell them.

The renovation already started this year, not next year. It goes into full swing this summer after basketball and hockey are done. It is a 3 year project.

The cash cow that is helping pay for the 800 million dollar “transformation” is not the Christmas Show. It the the JP Morgan Chase sponsorship of MSG – the most lucrative Sponsorhip in the country and there are no naming rights on the building. 300 million over 10 years plus the other “signature” partners of MSG : Delta, Anheuser Busch, Coca Cola.

There has not been an Easter Show since 1997

Tinsletoes – you crack me up.

ew number and new marquee decor is slated for 2011 (this year) no 2012

It was not scaled back due to costs – for 75th anniversary the marquee was changed to the fiber optic tree with large gold “75” numbers on the tree. Tthe idea being to highlight the milestone on the marquee. The past two years, the tree remained and they obviously dropped the numerals. A new number and new marquee decor is slated for 2012.

Radio City Productions, when owned by Rockefeller Center , also used to for decor across 6th Ave in front of the Rockefeller Center Properties. When it was sold to Cablevision…the practice stopped

Luis – the United Palace is a beautiful theatre, but it is not highly successful as a concert venue, despite the hype. The Allmans cancelled mulitple shows there this year. Another Greg Allman quote from Rolling Stone article. “Last March was a glamorous place and all that, but the location of it was — well, we won’t go into that,“ Gregg Allman said at the press conference. "Somebody told me the cab ride cost more than the ticket.”

The United Palace website has info about one past concert in October and one past concert in November – no upcoming events scheduled. The Beacon has 10 acts booked December according to their website – that is successful. I hope the UP does better in future, I’ve been there and it is stunning.

William – Radio City And Beacon are run by Madision Square Garden, not Clearview. Even when MSG was part of Cablevision and not its own publicly traded company; Clearview had nothing to do with operation of either venue.

The allman brothers are back at the Beacon in 2011 after a so-so run at the united palace this year

Rolling Stone Quote: “We’re back at home now,” Allman told Rolling Stone last month. “I don’t think they’ll ever put us out again. I think we got some kind of paper that says they won’t do it.”

There is a maintenence contract with Bishop Pipe Organ that is renewed every year for upkeep on the Organ. In addition to the annual maintenence contract, there was a large “update” done in March of this year. The contract is not cheap, the Bishops do a great job and the organ has not been and never will be neglected.
It is one organ – two consoles

The cirque show , unnamed until this week – Zarkana, is suypposed be a 1930’s circus theme" but no one is sure what that means.

there are many promo codes for cheap seat s 49MSG for $49 orch seat to many shows. I think the ecomony is why sales are “soft”.

Madison Square Garden was spun off from Cablevision. MSGE is a divison of MSG, as is RCP – Radio City Productions. The lease is with RCP.

Screening rooms: they are no long used for offices. One room is used for stage managers during Christams. The other is now known as the “red carpet room” for Rockette Meet and Greets and catering for Rockettes during Christmas. The room adjacent to the two screening rooms on 51st street is a Rockette Physical Therapy Room. The stairwell in the back that connected the screening rooms to the 8th floor terrace had a had 2 restroom attached to it that are now house whirlpools for the Rockette Physical Therapy room.

The video projection elimated was directly on the walls/ceiling over the choral stairs on both sides of the theatre. Fuzzy still shots and snowfake graphics – and a distraction from the live show. sometimes lesss is more , good call to cut it.
