Hadnt been there in years, since I joined AMC A-List. Went yesterday, because of a better showtime. Renovations are impressive, except on the outside. They took away the closest wheelchair ramp to the exterior entrance. I had to go all the way to the corner of the building.

The last movie I saw there was Avatar: The Way of Water, back in December. Let’s hope they add an IMAX screen to another one of their locations in the area, preferably before Dune Part 2 opens this fall.

Finally, it looks like it will be reopening this year.

New ownership must have been found. The marquee now says “Coming Soon”.

Having been closed for well over a year now, first from the fire, and then the pandemic, the theater is now apparently up for sale.

Purchase of the mall has been completed, but a theater is in the plans released by the new owners, so, there’s not as great of a danger of it closing.

According to the marquee, the theater wont be reopening until summer. Either the fire did more damage than the news let on, the repairs are expensive so they’re spacing them out, or they’re taking the opportunity to do additional renovations unrelated to repairs from the fire.

The theater is temporarily closed after a small fire early this morning.

Cant find any showtimes for the theater for next Tuesday (September 25). I tried the Marcus website, app and Fandango. Is there something going on that they aren’t having any showings, or is it just a glitch?

Only went there twice. Once for Star Wars, once for Empire. Since I was, at the oldest, 6 or 7, I don’t remember much abou it. Other than it being the first time I exited by the screen, and saw the credits in reverse from the other side.

If you order tickets online for here, you might want to print your QR codes instead of trying to pull it up on your phone. Its impossible to get a cell signal once you’re inside, even in the vestibule.

Not sure what this will mean for the theater, but the mall as a whole has a new owner, and there are plans for redevelopment.

Since the Marcus takeover, they seem to be showing more Bollywood films here. According to the listings for this coming Friday, there will be five movies in either Telugu or Tamil. I don’t know if St Charles County has that big an Indian population, and even so, a mall multiplex doesn’t seem like the obvious place for them. The average teenage mall moviegoer would want more mainstream movies,

Havent been there in a while, but, they’ve recently lowered their ticket prices.

The Wehrenberg website indicates the theater will be all luxury seating as of May of this year. It does not say if any additional Five Star Lounges will be added, or just Suite Seats.

Apparently, they weren’t getting much business, and they lowered their ticket prices, in line with other AMC theaters. I went there this morning. Nice theater. It’s a little more expensive for a morning show than going over to Chesterfield, but cheaper than other cinemas in St Charles County. One drawback: There’s no place for just dropping off at curbside. You have to go into the free parking garage.

Found an interesting fact about this theater in an old issue of Starlog Magazine. A sneak preview for the 1980 Flash Gordon movie was held there in August of that year, with producer Dino de Laurentis in attendance. The magazine can be read online here: https://archive.org/details/starlog_magazine-041

New management/ownership has apparently been found.

Maybe they’ll have some ideas to boost attendance. Like, perhaps, actually showing movies that were filmed in 3D in 3D. As far as I know, that has never been done under the current management/ownership.

Looks like the status might be changing to Closed after Labor Day, if a new owner isn’t found.

Are they wanting to put some reserved seating in? I saw Interstellar there last week, and in that particular auditorium (Screen 9), there were two seats surrounded by velvet ropes, which eliminated one of the two spaces for wheelchair seating.

Colonel Chrome
Colonel Chrome commented about AMC Streets of St. Charles on Nov 22, 2014 at 2:37 am

Havent actually been there yet, but, just from looking at their ticket prices, I wont be going there for the foreseeable future. $7.51 for morning shows, $11.05 for matinees, $12.35 for evening shows. It says it’s all reserved seating. As a wheelchair user, that isn’t an advantage to me. And if this was supposed to be more of an art house cinema, they aren’t showing anything that fits that bill. It’s worth the extra gas to go over to the Chesterfield Galaxy.

No, it’s still part of the original 6-plex. They may have moved the entrance, but the positions are still pretty much the same. Otherwise, it would have taken longer than it did to transition from 6 to 14. It was closed less than a year. Not to mention, a waste of still useable theater space.

Colonel Chrome commented about Mid Rivers 14 Cine' on Jun 12, 2014 at 12:16 am

Some of the original 6 screens were incorporated into the new build. There was additional work done, aside from making the screens all stadium seating. The screen entrances used to be lower than the rest of the mall, as referenced in my earlier comment. They may have added, or moved, a screen of two. I haven’t had many movies on that side of the Cineplex, and have not gone there as frequently since the Galaxy 14 in Chesterfield set their lower prices.
