Actually Darkness you are incorrect. While its not as elaborate in its desgin as Hamid’s Themed theatre’s built in the years that followed while he still owned Muvico it was infact their first themed theatre. It is a very subtle greek theme, themed as such due to the theatres close proximity to the Palm Harbor/Tarpon Springs border. Tarpon of course being heavily populated greeek community in Pineallas County. I was actualy part of the opening team for both Palm Harbor 10 and Pointe Orlando.

When I have time to I will upload the original press video from Palm Harbor 10’s opening. And it very clearly brings up the “Theme” of the theatre and that it was his intention in the future to bring back a good deal of that showman ship that is now for the most part lost in theatre chains.

In the mid to late 90s Palm Harbor 10 was Muvico’s flag ship location. It was also the first of their theatres to be themed as well. The Palm Harbor 10 being a Greek themed interior.

No church has ever held services in any of Palm Harbor 10s auditoriums

Why is there no page for Muvico Palm Harbor 10, which was the first of their themed theatres, not to mention their oldest theatre. And for a number of years was their flag ship location

My fingers are crossed that since El Cap is not playing Saving Mr Banks, the Chinese 6 will get booked with it day and date with Arclight.

In my opinon(not that it counts lol) any movie that films/features the Chinese should play on atleast one of the screens of the chinese 6 if the main house isnt availble.

Cliffs, I know earlier this summer Arclight operating management were up in arms because They wanted Iron Man 3, just like they did last year when they couldn’t get the Avengers as well.(a friend of mine who works for in the Exhibitor relations dept at Disney mentioned that to me)

Its funny Arclight was the one who was insistant on them being the only theatre showing the movies they play,(Heck the owners of the vista had to sue because Arclight was blocking them from getting films) Now that its obvious that audiences will flock to the Chinese and that they cant exert their clout to take disney films from the El Cap they are suddenly willing to share the toys in the sand box.

Hopefully means that once and forall the outdated restrictions on films playing at Arclight cant play at any other theatre in the region will go away. Gravity if anything has shown that both the Arclight and Chinese can both thrive with the same film playing on both locations.

Chris, you do have a point, but can i counter with this. Just because Disney Operates El Cap doesnt mean the Chinese won’t be involved with the premiere in some manner. There have been several Disney red carpet premieres in recent years that full on premiered at the chiense instead of El Cap. Since Iron Man 2 all the Marvel movies have for their Red Carpet Premiere used BOTH the El Cap and Chinese (such as last Summers Avengers, this Summers Iron Man 3 and the upcoming Thor 2-Nov4- So its entirely possible that Star Wars VII will be a Co premiere between both theatres, Especially if JJ ends up partially shooting using IMAX cameras.

Regular engagement who knows, but the premiere I am more than willing to bet it will premiere or co premiere at the Chinese IMAX

One final post from me tonight, I am sure if they really wanted to put in a screen as tall as Metreon or Lincoln square they could have, but it would have come at a huge cost, the loss of the beautiful historic architecture.

I think what the chinese has now is the best of both worlds You have all the historic beauty intact and an incredibly large screen, and a return of great movies to the chinese and great crowds for shows playing in the middle of the week.

with 15/70 going bye bye there is no need for a taller screen than what they put in.

I am sure some will disagree, but thats my outlook on it.

its funny when you call up and ask Citywalk the management refuses to say how big the screen is, I have called several times to ask and I get the same we don’t know response or we are not permited to say.

Hdtv I think the numbers you found for the Metreon are off a bit,
The Lincoln Square IMAX is actually bigger than the Metreon not the other way around.

for the heck of it I asked about the screen today when I went to watch OZ. I was told the dimensions of the screen is 14.07m x 28.98m and that the full screen will not be completely used until the laser projection comes next year, thats why you have several feet of masking on both sides presently.

the dimensions I was told (and listed above) when you translate meters to feet indicate 46 ft tall and 95 feet wide

Chris you are right there was an article a few months back where one of the IMAX execs said by the end of 2014 that 15/70 IMAX projection would be no more ANYWHERE. And there was another article stating that The Smithsonian will be converting from 15/70 film IMAX to Laser IMAX come Jan 2014. SO i would wager your predictions about Rave and Citywalk are correct.

I just want to point out, everything I have read the theatre management and IMAX never claimed the screen was the biggest in the world. Pretty sure they have been saying seating capacity wise in pretty much all of the news releases and stories. And they have mentioned over and over (both the theatre and IMAX) that Lincoln square and The Meteron are bigger screens.

Being cocky with their twitter/facebook post saying Hollywood Arclight tickets for Gravity onsale soon.

Yeah they have been quiet about Gravity and the Hollywood Arclight since then.

Wayne if you mean because of your post then yeah anyone would turn over after reading that. Let me ask you a question what was the last movie you saw there?

Chris unfortunatly Sid died in March of 1950 aprox 3 years before cinemascope install. But your point is still valid.

Edward he said the EXSISTING I take that to mean the speakers that were allready in the theatre previously have been retained for standard non IMAX movies playing there, which makes sense considering they are still going to be playing regular movies as well. plus looking at the pictures from the media days the surrounds are in the same placement that they were at before the renovation

Sorry Chris my comment didnt come out correctly.

Re wording it “My point is that Into Darkness despite being filmed in IMAX for specific scenes didn’t fill the entire screen on the “TRUE” IMAX screens at the Rave or Citywalk.

And even Dark Knight Rises didnt fill it either at Citywalk IMAX as there was several feet of screen on both top and bottom durring the IMAX scenes as well when i watched it at Citywalk. I saw it twice there (because the first time I saw it they had the lights behind the screen on ruining the presentation, so I was given a pass for it again.

But your right Chris time to drop this conversation, just be happy we are going to see the chinese get the great booksings again with IMAX

Cliffs, I am not going to agree with you and definately not going to say your correct, but you have the right to think what ever you want and until we actually see a movie on the screen I have the right to disagree with you.

I suspect that the OZ screenings at the chinese will not be pillar boxed (and definately not cropped( As we allready know the chinese has top side and bottom masking for its IMAX screen so I suspect that the masking will be drawn in on the sides at the chinese for OZ
