The Juliet Theater was first twinned and was known as the Juliet 1 & 2 for a while. Two additional screens were added in vacant commercial space next door becomming the Juliet Quad.
They were unable to compete after Hoyts opened the Galleria Cinemas 8 in the Galleria Mall(now the Regal Galleria 12, soon to become 16 screens with a total make over with stadium seating this renovation will include new construction) and the existing Hoyts Cine Eight in the South Hills Mall giving Hoyts 16 theaters next door to each other.
The two largest auditoriums at the AMC Empire 25 are Theatres 1 & 6. I was told by the manager that the screens were the same size but not the size of them.
One can thank the Republican National Convention being at Madison Square Garden, the Garden is unavalible for the next 5 weeks. All home basketball games had to be moved somewhere.
It is not going to be a permanent installation.
Wasn’t this also called the 57th Street Playhouse for a while. It functioned as a move over theater for the Cinema 1 – ‘The Last Emperor’ in 70mm and they also showed Stop Making Sense and Laurie Anderson’s Home of the Brave. I remember that this theater had one of the first digital sound sysytem in NYC.

Actually the theaters that Hoyts US did not sell evolved into Northeast Cinemas. These theaters are now either being sold or closed as leases expire.
The largest screen screen in NYC I would have thought woule be the IMAX at the Loew’s Lincoln Square.
