By then there will be dozens of 3D movies to choose from at this theater…such as this one…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQIwVXPrw4M
Why the delay, Slimshady?
As summer approaches, I remember enjoying to watch summer movies at the two older theaters that are now gone. The AMC/Loews/Sony theaters were the place to be during the 90’s and 80’s before Clifton Commons arrived on the scene. What’s the status on the Xanadu Movie Experience that will open soon? That one I heard will have a real IMAX and not the diet IMAX that most AMCs have.
Slimshady, is there any news that digital projection will be installed at this theater by this summer or fall? It needs to have 3D in order to compete against Edgewater and Paramus and Secacus.
What a difference a month makes. Flooding has gone, and the theater’s parking lot is still dry. Slimshady, will this theater get all digital by the summer or fall?
I’m planning on going to this theater at the end of this month just in time for “Nightmare On Elm Street” (the remake)….slimshady, will this theater be all-digital by may or later this year?
Hey Slimshady, you commented on two new york city theaters getting all 4k digital by may. Is rockaway getting all screens 4k (excluding the digital imax)? That could mean no more blurry and scratchy film prints and hello to more than hd picture and clear digital sound.
I agree, JJD. Too much 3D is a bad thing, not to mention too much IMAX movies. I can’t wait for Avatar to return to Rockaway so I can see the director’s cut in IMAX. I liked the movie, but the plot was a bit confusing.
looks like clash is the second movie in 2010 to top the box office in 3D. It grossed a bit more than Dragon but couldn’t crowd people like Alice in Wonderland did. The grosses will drop based on bad word of mouth, and won’t last as long as the most popular 3d movie of all time, Avatar, which still has the best 3d of any movie, period. I’m so ready for Iron Man 2 in digital IMAX, since it will be interesting to see Tony Stark in all his giant robot sharpness.
looks like clash is the number one movie this weekend, in both 3d and 2d. It also did well overseas as well, although its gross was $40 million less than Alice but a bit more than dragon.
clash of the titans is not in 3d at this theater, thank the gods. Only How To Train Your Dragon, which was made with 3D in mind, is still being shown for a second week. Greenberg, the new comedy starring Ben Stiller, is playing at this theater, yet another reason why East Hanover gets all the indie films and Rockaway rarely gets any.
Must be an editing mistake according to Movie tickets. I last checked and now titans is on one 3d screen while alice and dragon share one screen. Thanks for the update, JJD.
Looks like Rockaway will be having 3 3D screens by the time Clash of the Titans opens this weekend. Alice will have two night showtimes on the same screen as How to Train Your Dragon in 3D, which has morning and afternoon showtimes. The other two 3D screens will play Clash of the Titans while the IMAX will still show a midnight showing of Alice In Wonderland as well as Dragon in IMAX 3D. What screen got the new 3D? Hopefully it’s one of the big ones.
The stock of Dreamworks Animation is down nearly 10% after box office results for its latest movie were below estimates. I also read online that Cameron Diaz said that the new Shrek movie will be the last one. Hopefully it’s better than Shrek 3.
According to View link clash of the titans has a 12:01 am 3D showing while the 8 p.m. and 12:01 showings are in 2d. 3d or not, I’ll still enjoy the movie since it was not filmed in 3d and was converted to 3D during the first quarter of this year. Some people who’ve seen advance screenings of the movie thought it was decent. As an homage to the original, the filmmakers decided to put Bubo, the robot owl, in the remake; hopefully he’ll look good and shiny in 3D!!!
yup. They showed Deep Sea 3D for free when the IMAX first opened to a crowd of young kids. There are other documentaries that Rockaway could show that the real IMAX theaters can show. Shorter movies at the IMAX would mean more showtimes. Slimshady, any word on more 3D projectors will be installed in time for the glut of 3D movies?
i know….two 3D movies competing against each other. Avatar’s not in 3D, the closest theater I can think of that’s showing it is in Paramus. BTW, Iron Man 2 will be shown letterbox style too, as well as inception and the new shrek movie. If it’s in IMAX then I’ll see a movie that was shot using IMAX cameras and not a DMR blowup.
Too bad Cablevision won’t have the Masters in 3D…only directv and comcast will have the golf tournament…could you imagine if AMC showed golf at this theater? It won’t do well at the box office, and it’s a long game. I can predict the future when AMC shows NFL football, baseball, and other sporting events much like UFC last night.
On AMC’s Rockaway website, ticket prices for Imax 3D are +$6, a dollar more than IMAX 2D, RealD 3D is +$4, and for Alice in Wonderland, it’s +$3. Nothing much has changed for senior, child, and adult tickets. How were ticket sales for UFC at Rockaway last night? I heard it was a good event. Saw the prelims last night on spike tv.
nope. LOL.

When 3D movies start to die out, then the projectors can be also used to show live events and 2d projection.

I do….why don’t they do it anymore much like the xmas special? It doesn’t get promoted a lot like the xmas shows.
Must be an editing mistake according to Movie tickets. I last checked and now titans is on one 3d screen while alice and dragon share one screen. Thanks for the update, JJD.
I used to like that show but nowadays before seeing a movie I read up on rotten tomatoes and read EW.

they are both ski. Avatar was shot in flat ratio for IMAX 3D and scope ratio for 3d and 2d release (i saw the scope 3d version at amc rockaway).
