South Seas Adventure was released in 1958. Tampa and El Paso did not show it till four or five years later. By that time travelog films were not that popular.
3-strip Cinerama had an aspect ratio of about 2.6:1. 70mm Cinerama Ultra Panavision films like Khartoum, It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, Hallelujah Trail and Battle of the Bulge had an aspect ratio of 2.76:1 so they looked fine on Cinerama screens. But the flat 70mm films like Grand Prix, 2001 a space odyssey and the 1973 re-issue of This Is Cinerama had an aspect ratio of 2.2:1 so they did not cover as much of the Cinerama screen.
Sorry if this is off topic but, I’m trying to contact Chuck1231. He sent me an email saying he had pictures of the Colonial in Hartford, CT when it was a Cinerama theatre. I would love to see them!

It was 210 minutes, 197 minutes plus intermission. Here is a review from the November 11, 1963 issue of Boxoffice magazine – http://cineramahistory.com/1963iammmmwreview.jpg . The movie program says 210 minutes. Robert Harris who has done restorations of a number of films says it was 195 minutes – View link

Did this theatre ever promote itself as a Cinerama theatre? The book Cleveland’s Playhouse Square, has a picture of the Palace Cinerama theatre and below it says “The State and the Ohio also showed Cinerama films”.
Thanks William. I’m going through a Motion Picture Exhibitor magazine that said it could show a Cinerama film. A number of theatres that were built in the 60’s were promoted as such but never did show and promote a film as being “In Cinerama”.
TGSET preview ticket has running time of 4 hours including intermission – http://incinerama.com/gsetpreviewfeb6.htm
This review has 221 minutes plus intermission – http://incinerama.com/1965gsetreview.jpg
on 4/16 it was reduced by 28 minutes – http://incinerama.com/041665.htm
I lived in Southbridge on Mechanic Street till 1961 and use to walk to a movie theatre. It might have been this one.

Does anyone know if the Titan Theatre ever promoted any of the films being shown as “in CINERAMA”?
