That’s MY theatre! Thanks Nick. I thought Robin put some stuff on for you tisloews.See the Marquee I had to work with, wish i would have thought to taken some pictures.
I found this small two column ad in the Newburgh Paper.Best I could make out was it was on a Route Nine.ANd it could be thirty miles out of town for i know.I hadn’t come across another ad since that on time.
I wish those old newspaper ads would have put an real street address on them.I guess they never thought forty years in the future and people would even care.
Yes, we played those cheapie Kiddie shows for the Kids on Summer break,Daycare,Kids in the neighorhood, summer camps.Film rental went with cheap kid shows.Did get on Charlton Heston’s “PLANET OF THE APES”.What bunch of upset parents. We also played one of the first music clips from a late show,“WE’RE AN AMERICAN BAND” by Grand Funk.It was always adventure with me at Regency Mall I,II,and III and National Hills theatre.I think the Daycare folks liked it!
“VON RICHTHOFEN and BROWN” play here.Pretty good WWI flick.
August 10 1971 and “THE OMEGA MAN "opens with a warning,"MANAGEMENT DOES NOT RECOMMENED FOR CHILDREN”,I noticed a few Rock Hill Theatres would insert that in the ads.

Plitt must have sold this theatre when they took over ABC Theatres that year.

Knowing municipal buildings I bet the sound was horrible.
I debated about even submitting this since it was a “portable” theatre, but still a theatre. And the ads mentioned 35mm often in the newspaper ads.
Thanks again.
Thanks Cwalczak.
Thanks Guys.
Rock Hill for its size had some pretty decent movie houses. Thanks again Chuck.
Seems like Rock Hill could have restored some theatres.

That is the ONLY WAY I catch a flick. If I am lucky not a soul in the theatre.
A heartbreaker.I feel for those of you that worked there.

Back in those days GP and PG pictures were not for kids unlike the loose way the PG rating is slapped around today.
