In other news, I read on Twitter that some moviegoers saw Kevin Jonas and his fiance, who is a resident of Denville, waiting in line to buy candy before seeing Paranormal Activity at the theater.
The opening of the theater last night coincided with a Lakers-Clippers season opener last night, which I saw part of. After the ring ceremony was over, TNT showed an overhead shot of the LA Live complex, complete with ESPN’s new studios, the shopping area, the Staples Center, and the Regal 14 cinema.
Full showtimes are now on…“This is It” is playing in 4k digital, making this the first 2d digital 4k movie playing at this theater. It was shot on 4k for most of the movie, combined with low-res images of interviews and news clips. I watched the commercials and the trailer in HD and it looks good.
As of right now, no other movie is listed other than “This is It” and an encore of the “Tosca” opera that was sold out this past weekend. What the heck is going on?
showtimes for movies other than “This is It” tomorrow are not up. Probably tomorrow we’ll see how many screens the new michael jackson movie will be on…probably a lot.
my mistake, they launched the website….uses lots of Flash…plus you can register to post reviews of movies on amc’s website as well as see pictures of the theaters themselves. 3D movies are branded as “AMC 3D”. The website for the theater has changed: http://www.amcentertainment.com/Rockaway
Now only if Clearview can make their page as attractive as AMC’s….
AMC has a movie theater in the Bronx, called Bay Plaza 13, which used to be a General Cinema. That theater was probably the only theater in NYC to bear the GCC logo until AMC took over. That theater does well.
They also had I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell for awhile as well as back in the 90’s controversial indie movies like Priest that were banned by religious groups. They even had protesters outside the theater for the Da Vinci Code movie, which did well despite the protests.
Sadly, it’s only in 2d, and is playing before Saw VI, Amelia, and Astro Boy, all of which fell prey to Paranormal Activity, which AMC had at this and other theaters before others showed the movie such as the Clearviews, where they show it digitally (the movie was shot digitally on a low budget). Advance tickets are still available for the Michael Jackson movie, which is showing in 35mm at midnight. Perhaps they’ll show it on a 4k screen(alongside the 35mm screen) since that movie was shot on 4k (the concert footage)…I saw a commercial showing the movie in HD and he looked very healthy….it was too bad that the doctor who gave him the drugs made a bad mistake before Michael’s quest for regaining popularity.
for the fourth week, toy story 3d is still playing. why can’t they show nightmare 3d for the first time in this theater? also, a new avatar trailer will be shown one week before the online release.
partial showtimes for friday are now up at the amc movieticket site…will a 3d movie still be playing this weekend or will it be a digital presentation of an upcoming movie? Time will tell.
The Cartel is playing exclusively at this theater. It’s a movie about the state of NJ schools and was made by a NJ news reporter who used to work for Bloomberg television. One reason why East Hanover gets all the indie movies that ROckaway sometimes lacks.
during a digital showing of wtwta, a 4 45 masterpiece..half way through the movie the sound was quieted down. thankfullysomeone asked the manager to notify the projectionist to rewind the show and raised the volume. also the movie started 5 minutes late, with only one preview. projection was soft except for the titles and credits.
With the closing of the Meadows Six and Plaza 8, this theater as well as Jersey Gardens and Newport Center are the only AMC/Loews/Cineplex theaters left around the Hudson/Bergen area.
what’s the latest on the imax? Rockaway is getting it first.

why? I guess they’re in high demand.
Could you imagine if they added a mini-IMAX screen? That would make it worse than Lincoln Square, which is owned by Regal’s rival, AMC.

Looks like the website is down, but the movie tickets site is up.

Advance tickets are now on sale for A Christmas Carol, which is being shown in DLP. Hopefully it will be 3D and not 2D.
Recently Screenvision installed digital projectors only for the pre-shows as well as live events at this theater.

the ad is also found on clearview’s hoboken website too.

The theater’s new name was named after Nelson Page’s daughter.

how did this theater do this weekend? is it better than the amc loews theaters?

what’s the latest? I heard it’s opening in the fall.

A new theater will open next week bringing moviegoing back to Hoboken.
