“IHOP in South Portland Maine across from the Maine Mall.”
MarkChellis can you confirm that this angle is correct for the Maine Mall Cinema?
Signage might read “Cinema I-III” but is cut off on the right.
Found this reference in a trade magazine called Motography, November 1911, Volume 5 Issue 6, page 249, via Google Books.
“The Gem theater has been opened at the corner of Broadway and Walnut Streets, Green Bay, under the management of Anton Nelson. It is conducted by the Gem Theater company and it is the intention of the parties interested to secure six other houses in Wisconsin cities to join an organization controlled by them.”
Motography was published monthly by Electricity Magazine Corporation out of the Manodnock Building in Chicago.
(a landmark building in Chicago which is still standing today)
“Exploiting Motion Pictures For Entertainment, Education, Science and Advertising” was on the front cover.
I’ve been through the Sanfilippo mansion.
Incredible place.
Even more with an additional building with an 1890s carousel, vintage calliopes and a train on about 50 feet of track.
They hosted the 50th anniversary of Thunderbird for our club back in 2005.
Brevity thanks you…
Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House in the shell of the former Esquire building is now permanently closed as of January 2019.
Apparently originally announced in November 2018.
Current Google street view is August 2018.
The sidewalk and street surrounding the theater are both blocked off, presumably for safety of the marquee falling.
Just noticed the current exterior lamp fixtures are the same ones that were inside the alcove, above the doors in Photo 78 in the Table Rock Historical Society link.
One of the globes is broken in the street view which is from 2013.
There is also a vintage gas station on the corner that now looks like a repair garage, with the pumps removed.
From the current street view the address is 402-404 Luzerne Street.
JK Remodeling located in the same building is 406 Luzerne.
Hard to believe with all the history compiled in the above website, that not one of the print ads have an address listed.
