To Geo1…the solid plan and good financial backing says it all. I agree 150%. (as a side note, I too wanted to buy a theatre years ago, and also had one drawn up, but…)
and to TonyM, Thanks, I guess when Loews abandoned it 30 years ago, they took the projectors so they could use them at other locations. Its a shame.
And finally, that the deadline has been extended cant be bad news, so lets all hope.

I recently went to a wedding in a catering hall that had been remodeled within the past year. It was gold and red and reminded me greatly of an old movie theatre with its coves all having colored backlighting. Upon closer inspection I realized it was all prefab material but looked damn good. Why not make movie theatres fancy again using modern materials? There is no reason the individual cinemas within a plex can’t be ornate. I am so sick of 4 walls with trivia playing on a too small screen.
Since the entrance to the second floor is near the front door on the right side I imagine they will slice the lobby in half to provide entrance to the store. I wonder about the marquee?
The plastic has blown off the roof and there are huge gaping holes to let the rain and snow pour in. I’m sure the new owners want to tear this down or they would have at least replaced the roof.
By the late 70’s the Rivoli was playing showcase runs pretty much all the time. At least they were still major releases. I remember they played all the Universal product at that time. View link
The lowlifes at City Cinemas are at it again destroying another theatre facade so they sell off the building.

Maybe one of them will show an interest in the Boyd in Philadelphia.

I could accept the shoebox if the theatre had a HUGE curved screen.
I recently went to a wedding in a catering hall that had been remodeled within the past year. Little by little its all over so sad :(
So very sad
This place is a treasure, we never get to see the films they run here at the Film Forum or Thalia
WOW so Windjammer still exists
I never knew Windjammer had a re-release in 1973, was it in Cinerama?
Whats happening to the theare business? :(
The plastic has blown off the roof and there are huge gaping holes to let the rain and snow pour in. I’m sure the new owners want to tear this down or they would have at least replaced the roof.
Very sad shots in spite of the flooding this place could have easily been restored.
Vito
Was the home office in the Floral Theatre building?
Hey CConnolly welcome back.
