The Palm was located at the corner of Ulmerton Road at US 19. Some places around here have a Clearwater address while others have a Largo one. It’s technically an unincorporated area usually attributed to Largo. Apparently the Palm later became the Ulmerton. The area has been built up for the last twenty or so years and I don’t believe any trace of the drive-in exists.
I’ve found evidence of a Reno Theater located at the corner of Central and 19th. The advertisement is from 1933, so either the above information about the name being changed to the Playhouse is wrong, or there was another theater across the street.
Not a problem. I think I noticed it sitting in traffic one day. It might’ve still had the marquee then. I was downtown a few weeks ago taking pictures when I spotted it again; I took a picture of the building.
I don’t know the crossroad, but I highly doubt anything is left. Fifty years' time has really changed a lot of Central Florida, even in sleepy, time-warpy Auburndale.
Here are some pictures of the Arcadia Opera House.

Haha. Everyone down here pronounces it “Zef-free-hills.”
The theater has been known as the Home Theatre since at least the 1970s. It has reopened and shows movies for $3.

Possibly the old marquee.

Yep, it’s now the Coastal Shopping Center. I don’t know the current status of the theater. It would be great to get a concrete address.
Not sure. Since the article was from 1963, it is entirely possible (and probably likely) that the bank is gone as well.

The Beach is a twin? I’ve been in there plenty of times and only saw the main auditorium. Unless, of course, there’s a balcony?

The theater is the building with the white/faded roof on the left side of the parking lot. Satel Drive runs along the back of the building.
