That is someone’s goof in the booth.I guess it is all automated,so some switch did not kick on.Hopefully, that won’t happen again. It is about $11.00 a seat here in Georgia for first run.Guess that is the average. LOVED your comment on DIET IMAX.Don’t think i had ever heard it called that.
So the term is Diet IMAX.That must be what we have here in Augusta at the REGAL 20,Diet IMAX.That is a good one Justin.Glad to see you are staying on topic.LOL.
Hope Carmike never comes Jeff. I wonder if it was possible in ones lifetime to catch a movie in every theatre and Drive-in in L.A.? So,So many theatres.I would think it would take along time.
How were the Seats,Justin? AMC has been known for some of the best seats in the business. Our seats at GCC were horrible,I never could understand why they insisted on putting those seats in.Thankfully, when the seats at the 8-plex were put in they did not move everytime you moved your butt. I always thought AMC was a great Chain,Never worked for them, but visited one in Atlanta for 1983 it was beautiful.Nothing like the GCC locations. I guess,AMC has even gone non-union,even up there. As a manager,i was always glad for union men in the booth.Made it a lot easier to run the floor. Sound was never much of a problem.I remember when Dolby was put in,Quite Frankly, i Could not tell the difference, but I am no sound man. I guess if the print is good the sound such be fine, but for what people are paying for a flick it better be, We would have complaints sometimes on MIDNIGHT MOVIES like “WOODSTOCK” or “YESSONGS” about the sound, but like you said Justin, new prints are the reason. The prints we would pick up for Late shows could have Bugs on them from playing at Drive-ins, Asmashed Fly,anyone. There.I have talked Theatre. I worked in the business from 1974 to 1983 and that gives me the right to make any comment be it 007 in 3-d {i was just kidding fellow,to commenting on 3-D glasses giving some moviegoers pink eye.} So many serious people,Just don’t punch this theatre up.I don’t like trashy radio so i avoid the junk I don’t want to hear. I am glad these guys love this theatre that much, makes me feel like all my past work was not in vain.Somebody must have noticed.
Keith you got good taste in films,Hammer films were so much better than the horror trash they peddle today.LOVED “the MUMMY” story.Theatres just don’t do that anymore,Guess times have changed.Sadly.
Sounds like the Booth in the TV show,“THE POPCORN KID”.that operator climbed a Ladder to get in that booth and i thought that was silly, but one really existed ?
RAVE intends to have the Ushers run the booth. You can thank a spineless Hollywood for ever allowing the Union operators out of a booth. Yeah,Vito you think a 18 year old kid will care about film presentation,Glad I got out of the theatre business in 1983.I could SEE it coming.
I can’t recall any projectionist of all the theatres I worked that ever drank in the booth. They were all Union men and their Business Agent was in and out at lot in the early 70’s not so much in the later 70’s.by the 80’s you never saw him.But I don’t think the guys that knew would ever do that. Now the parking lot after a midnight show, well that is another story…
The Article came with a picture of a man .It looks like he might be on a small stool, almost a squat, watching the movie with his back to the camera looking at the screen. The Screens look nice size, but has mentioned above from the picture it looks like this guy was the only one there, but i am sure it was just the way the shot was made. I have the picture, but no way to see it on CT.
“Cannonball Run” what amovie to close a grand old theatre on.Did a film like that even do box office over there?

Great picture Robert. Peter Cushing a class act!
Nice looking theatre i bet with one screen, but they just have to mutiplex everything for that buck.Good stories to read.
Thank goodness for the 2009 picture the earlier one made the place look like a dump and somewhere i wouldn’t want to watch a movie.
Thanks Guys.
