“ MIDNIGHT IN THE GARDEN OF GOOD AND EVIL” mentioned above,Director Clint Eastwood was raising money for the theatre by charging $100.00 dollars to have your picture taken with him.I am still kicking myself for not driving down for a picture and know the hundred was going for a great theatre.Wonder how many showed up?
Good Comment Mark. I always try to give my source and even then someone will correct it and that is fine.we all love movie Theatres since most of us spent hours and hours running them; missing Hoidays and such, for love of working a theatre.
Kennedy Theatre.Wow,They must have really loved President Kennedy.Don’t think it would fly today with the country split like it is.“BUSH I and II theatres”? “OBAMA CINEMAS” ? .nope ,not today.
Sad photos guys.Never realized GCC had that many twins. When i started with them in 1982 I thought everything was triples or quads in Malls. You guys had alot of GCC twins up there.Bet all the one-sheets are long gone.I would have to explore if up there.
What sad stories about a wonderful Twin.Wouldn’t be nice if that was all we had Single screens and Twins,Not everyone playing day and date.Actual theatre chains that encouraged promotions.Glad I worked in those days.No way would i want to manage one of those 20 plex monsters,I won’t even go in to one.
JJD,I think hdtv267 had a point, but really after you give the history in the header i don’t see why one can post about theatres and talk about movies.I think most of the time you guys stay pretty much on the topic of the theatre and the projection presentation.I had a couple of guys hit me for not staying on topic on NATIONAL HILLS THEATRE,but for the most you are discussing the business with other managers and how it was compared to today.I enjoy reading you guys one day i might even take in a 3-D if 007 comes out with one.
I was going by what my 1956 Motion Picture Almanac had.I assumed they knew.I thought it was Morristown, but kept seeing Morriston,They have messed up more than a few city names to where i even hate putting a town down, but have to,Silicon SAM.
OWLHEN,you should have grabed those Steve Mcqueen lobby cards Bet they are in the city dump today. Gotta save history.
That many.Only in Nashville.LOL.
Two horrible movies,Magicman 1433.
Thanks CWalczak.Good article hope it can be saved, but if it is in a bad part of town as mentioned above it might be useless to try and open it.
look at all the one sheet frames! You sure it was a TWIN.Lol.
I think it was an ABC SOUTHEASTERN THEATRE back in the 1970’s. Plitt might have even had it for awhile.

Yes,I remember one time you explained they were not related, but that Loews Name had to have helped Elias.
And they screamed in 1975 when we went from 2.75 a seat to $3.00 a seat on “JAWS”. Love it.
Great! Rick. Love it.
One thing about REGAL they don’t run Dollar houses.
I read on a 007 site that it was being made ,so i guess MGM settled something.Hopefully, cameras will roll,JJD.I know this is off topic,Justin.
It was owned by J.M. Rohr in 1956. He had Drive-ins in Cross Lakes and Hackensack Minnesota.
