Opened on 15th July 1950 as Statute Open Air Theatre with “Susanna Pass” and “Man from Colorado”. Name later changed to Glendale Drive-in(date unknown?).
It was built next to Catskill Creek, near a swimming hole known as Slippery Hole, on Green Lake Road near an old stone bridge. There is still a old stone refreshment stand(built before the open air theatre, that is still standing there. There is also still marks on the rocks of bank of Catskills Creek where the projector was bolted on to rocks. Also some faint ramps remaining on in the grass banks.
Which is the Midway Drive-in above(there is 2 drive- in theatres in the above photo)? What’s the name of the other drive-in theatre in the above photo?
The concert that the Australian music group The Seekers played in March 1967 during the Moomba Festival estimated to have been watched by a crowd of over 200,000 people(still a Guinness World Record for the biggest number of people at a concert in Australia and the southern hemisphere too). RIP. Judith Durham(The Seekers). π€πΆππΏπ
