It’s a black and white photo, not a color one. Pretty soon with the sale of Cablevision’s Rainbow unit (which includes CLearview) to Liberty Media, everything will change; no Optimum Rewards for Clearview moviegoers, but the Clear Advantage program will live on at this theater and other Clearview cinemas.
It’s pretty cool!!! They should do this on any single screen theater that Clearview owns…besides that, it’s a huge theater!!! Too bad there’s no stadium seating and that the screen is smaller from sitting in the balcony.
If AMC indeed builds a new theater, it will resemble something like the Rockaway 16 plex that they opened last fall. It probably will be an exterior theater rather than an interior one since getting to the theater is frustrating if you’re in the mall (you go up a couple of levels, and have to use a map!!!).
That theater has bad seats but good sound. If it closes, the only AMC theaters that will have THX are those that have stadium seating (excluding Rockaway 16): Clifton Commons and Essex Green.
Here’s some info from the emerson township website…
“The Borough of Emerson seeks proposals for the Re-Development of its Central Business District (CBD).
The Central Business District includes 59 tax lots and approximately 19.7 acres of land, excluding rights-of-way.
The Borough of Emerson Re-Development Plan is designed to revitalize the commercial core of the community by enhancing the local shopping experience, improve vehicular and pedestrian circulation, increase parking, and improve the aesthetic character of the area consistent with the philosophy and policies of the state’s Smart Growth initiatives.
The Mayor & Council seeks to actively pursue Agreements that will set forth a practical Re-Development strategy consistent with the intent of the Borough of Emerson Re-Development Plan.

When I call the number, their line is busy. I already took a survey a few days after the movie opened based on my experience with the film at the theater. It’s too bad a small film like Pan’s Labyrinth isn’t playing at this theater, which has the AMC Select program. It’s only playing around the big apple.
Just went to the theater a few days ago to see “Night @ the Museum”..the theater was packed and the lobby was a bit messy!!! Yet the film ran on time and it was a good presentation nonetheless. Any word yet on when digital projection will hit the theaters? I can’t wait to see Transformers in HD!!!
First Chelsea, then Ziegfeld, now this theater will show old movies!!! View link
Will any of these movies be restored prints with original soundtracks?
According to an earlier post, “Gandhi” played from 12/8/1982-7/15/1983, making it the second longest running movie at the theater due to its popularity following its surprise Oscar win. Too bad “E.T.” didn’t play at that theater until this year.
But will it make money? There are other interesting movies coming out during Christmas that will not play at the Ziegfeld: A Night at the Museum (box office hit) is the most notable. Last year, King Kong and Narnia were big. This year, expect the box office to dip a bit even though there is only two fantasy movies (Eragon and CHarlotte’s Web) as well as one drama (The Pursuit of Happyness) that are only a few films to check out. Too bad the new James bond didn’t play longer than other films in the past at Ziegfeld. By the way, which movies were the longest-running at the theater? I’d say Gandhi and THat’s Entertainment, along with the Star Wars prequels.

I agree with you, John. Now we have four to five theater stocks. AMC, Regal, Carmike, Cablevision (which owns CLearview), and Marcus.
Pretty soon, they will go down as video chain stocks and Google’s stock goes up, up, up!!!
Remember when AMC used to sell stock long time ago? It will be a good bargain, with the opening of a few great theaters, especially the Rockaway 16 plex. Look for the stock to go up in a time when the stock market is really booming!!!
except that there is no stadium seating, which can only be found in the new rockaway theater. BTW, has business in Parisppany declined because of the new theater or surging due to the high prices?
Do the Clifton Commons and Rockaway theaters share any traits? I know the rockaway location doesn’t have THX-certified auditoriums in its two biggest screens (hopefully the THX guys would love to come to rockaway to check if its safe for THX), because this was originally a Loews theater, not a General Cinema.
That gives it a noir look. Anyway, how is traffic by the theater if you go there? And where is the parking?

Will it work at the Rockaway theater? It might.
When I call the number, their line is busy. I already took a survey a few days after the movie opened based on my experience with the film at the theater. Which is better…the old AMC Rockaway or the new one? I prefer the new one.

that’s amazing! They should bring back Gandhi at the theater next year for its 25th anniversary!!!
Why was it the biggest snowstorm of 1983? I guess there was a lot of feet of snow that would pile up the Ziegfeld if it were a drive-in!!!!
First Chelsea, then Ziegfeld, now this theater will show old movies!!!

What’s the theater like compared with other AMC theaters?
What is the history of the theater?

Do they still use SDDS? I liked that sound system.

Since the new rockaway theater opened, are there employees who were transferred from east hanover to rockaway, or vice versa?
How has business been doing in mansfield since the rockaway opening? Rockaway is much bigger than the hackettstown megaplex.
