Was a regular at the Mesa, from approx. 1957 to its closing in the mid 60’s. I can recall fondly seeing the premiers of “Carousel”, “The King and I”, “The Guns of Navarone”,“The Magnificent Seven”, and countless Elvis Presely Movies. During the summer months, the neighboring businesses would provide a free ticket to the kids in the neighborhood on Wednesday afternoons.

SAW MANY MOVIES IN THE MESA FROM 1956 TO 1970. DURING SUMMERS,MATINEE MOVIES WERE FREE AND TICKETS COULD BE HAD FROM THE LOCAL NEARBY MERCHANTS.THE INTERIOR OF THE MESA WAS QUITE ORNATE, RESTROOMS WERE UPSTAIRS WITH A STRIKING STAIR CASE. THE CORNER, SLAUSON AND CRENSHAW IS NOW A SHELL GAS STATION AND A KFC. MANY FOND MEMORIES OF THE MESA.
This theater opened on April 1, 1926. Architect was L.A. Smith.
