I am wondering why this theatre is listed as an atmospheric with a ceiling of gold leaf and a central chandelier. It does not sound like a true atmospheric, however the theatre may have atmosphere. There are other theatres on the atmospheric list which probably should’t be there, which tends to make it confusing.I am researching and compiling a list of atmospherics and have found about 146 so far, which I suspect has only scratched the surface,as John Eberson probably designed that many himself.
atmos.
The New Orleans Loew’s State was not a “twin” to the St. Louis house.
I have some great memories of this theatre, and I am happy that I was able to enjoy it before it was torn down. I was a patron there in the early 70’s, and I do remember it for the ethnic films such as “Super Fly” “Foxy Brown” and several other black films of which I cannot remember the names… It was truly a very beautiful place. Lastly, another thing I cannot forget is the “Pink Panther” cartoons that were always shown before the movie.
