I have loads of pictures of the Haven I just need to find time to scan them.
Peter K ……….Did you live up by Forest Park and Play football for the Warriors during the 60’s?
Don’t bother asking The Leader Observer (this was the local paper)for and information or pictures. They were bought up by a large paper business and I was told they have no archive.
If nothing else, then NYC tax photo of the building. Costs money, though.
When did the Haven open ?
i think the woodhaven block association or chamber of commerce would have something
I haven been searching for photos for years and always come up empty. There has to be some somewhere.
does anyone have any photos of the Haven Theater marquis?
Thanks, woodie, I’m glad to read that.
woodie, what month and year would that have been ?
DOES ANYONE HERE REMEMBER SEEING SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE AT THE HAVEN?
Thanks, Maryellen and George Tobor.
Indeed the Haven Theatre was located on the South side of Jamaica Avenue.
George
I was probably around 8 or 9 maybe.
You and me both, Maryellen. How old were you when you saw “Towering Inferno” at the Haven ? I was 19 going on 20.
Hey Peter,
I also saw the “Towering Inferno” at the Haven. My parents took the 4 of us for a family movie night and my best friend (Gary Umstetter) parents took them also. I was very disappointed and sad when they closed the HAVEN.
Hi, Maryellen, I don’t remember the Streib family, because I didn’t live in Woodhaven, although my dad’s parents and sister did.
I think the first film I saw at the Haven was “M.A.S.H” in February 1971, and the last, “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest”, in July 1976, with others, like the double feature of “Forty Carats” and “The Conversation” in late August 1974 somewhere in between.
Rather than “Poseidon Adventure”, the Irwin Allen disaster film I saw at the Haven was “Towering Inferno” in late August or early September 1975.
Hey!
I was born and raised in Woodhaven. I remember going to see every movie at the HAVEN form “The Night of the Living Dead” to “Zombies” to the “Poseidon Adventure” to “Grease.” Anthony Iervolino was the manager back then. My friends and I use to go every week end from the mid-seventies to the last week end movie that they showed. Hey does anyone remember a family by the last name of Streib? If so please let me know. Thanks.
Maryellen
I’m glad to read that, Panzer65. I just posted about another “Panzer” on the RKO Bushwick page # 1322.
Thanks for the info on Zacherle, George Tobor.
Indeed WXRK is the correct answer. Zacherley has been performing a Saturday morning show and a Halloween special on WXRK. Personal appearances are by request only.
George
Peter,
Well thats OK, I read it, and apologized for my humorous (and friendly) Halloween question.
Thanks, Panzer65.
BTW, check out the RKO Bushwick Theatre page # 1322.
I think you’ve been accused of being both me, and a crypto-Nazi.
Yes Peter,
That was the station.
Panzer65, that would have been WXRK, 92.3 FM, right ?
Panzer65, you don’t have an email address listed on the site. Email me, myrtlebway at hot mail dot com
Thanks, Panzer65.
I’m not sure if he is still performing for the public, but I do beleive he also had a stint on radio, I believe it was on the former K Rock station, in the early 90’s.
