Joe Pierce Jr. gave me a tour in 1998. Wow! what a neat theatre right in my own hometown. I was doing volunteer work to help clean it up. I was cleaning up old plaster on the balcony floor when my left leg went right though the balcony floor right to my hip. I quickly pulled my leg back up and saw though the hole in the floor a bunch of people looking up with plaster on their heads! The booth equipment was Super Simplex projectors & Ashcraft Suprex arc lamps. The calender on the wall said December, 1974. I think that was when the Levoy closed.
A Lenoir organ was installed in this theater in 1927.

William Wrifford is credited as being the architect of the Levoy Theatre.
Restoration of the Levoy Theatre’s roof has finally been completed and the theatre is now weather-tight.
Also, a temporary office, meeting space and mini-theatre have been constructed in the front of the building for the duration of the renovations. This new construction is in the old storefront areas which were added to the front of the theatre in the late 1950’s and will be removed as future restoration of the lobby occurs.
The public is invited to attend monthly Third Friday open house events at the theatre as well as our regular Preservation Society meetings held on the third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm.
