The area now has an Ethan Allen store.
By saying it “was one of six theatres in or around the mall” you seem to giving the impression of lots of theatres in that area. As the above comment says accurately, Century 21 was the only theatre in the mall for years, until the AMC 6-plex went in. The surrounding area had the Dickinson Fremont 3-plex at Battlefield & Fremont,The Petite 3 across the street, and the Tower Theatre single screen many blocks to the north.
I rember going to see Saturday matinees during the summer. I remember seeing Munsters Go Home. They sold tickets at my school for $1 each.
Century 21 Theater wasn’t a twin screen, but a large single screen. It
was part of Battlefield Mall, not across from the Mall. It opened in
1970, the first movie shown there was either Patton or MAS*H (can’t
remember which). The only other theater in Battlefield Mall was a 6 screen
theater located on the other end of the Mall, also closed. The address
is south Glenstone, not south Gladstone.
