This theatre still operates as a church (the organist told me it had been so for the last few years). It seems to have the original seats (aged leather, flips up and down and that’s it). Inexplicably, where “Boulevard” should be spelled out on the marquee outside, it displays the phrase “HUGGY BEAR”(!).
The Hollywood Playhouse (1927 – 1945), located at 1735 North Vine Street, recently The Palace and now The Avalon Theatre (a Clear Channel operation), was formerly the El Capitan, and the Jerry Lewis Theatre
Additionally, my notes indicate that Albert C. Martin was the architect (1925).

This theatre has been demolished.
It was annihilated sometime on or about the second week of October 2003.
It is unclear where the seats, concession stand or anything else from the interior went.
All that remains currently is a wreckage-strewn empty lot.
