A google search of of the Queen shows what looks like a screening room
of some kind called the STAFFORD THEATER. right next to the Queen ….any information or photos of that location ?
The Ritz has ( or had ) a fully functional fish tank in the back of the lobby when I was there a few years ago . Manager was very nice to speak with and the neon Marquee is beautiful at night
Paul, the only other person I have ever heard refer to the BLVD of The Allies as “FILM ROW” beside you was Film Critic and C T contributor Ed Blank. If you ever see this I would love to talk to about “Film Row”
The Video Mr. Haas provided a link for is worth the visit. The short portion about the Landsdowne leans a bit more towards the town and the people but is very nicely done
moviemanretired…Hello I would like to speak with you about movie theaters in New castle ….specifically “The Cinema” not sure how often you visit CT anymore but look forward to hearing from you ,JHHAGAN……
Two of my all time favorite films playing at two of my all time favorite theaters less than 100 feet apart, those were the days and that is a wonderful photograph. Thanks David
The California was used extensively in the TV series “Psych” season 7 episode 15, Psych the Musical from 2013. There are numerous, long shots of both the exterior and interior throughout the episode.
This listing has been active since 2007 without a picture. The main photo is by John Margolies. Palaces of Dreams Movie Theater Postcards. A google search of the correct address Listed by Ken now shows the Tivoli painted all red and appears to be in full operation .
The Palace is one of the most beautiful theaters in all of Western Pennsylvania. I posted the cancellations and a few other photos because like it or not current events will be part of the buildings history. I can not wait for the re-opening, no matter who or what is playing, I will be there.
Like it or not this is History. Every single AMC I visit may not actually be a Movie Palace, but all clean, never too hot or cold, the food is great, there never any technical issues & staff are always nice. I truly hope AMC makes it through these uncertain times.
NPR ran a nice piece on this theater & the Executive Director . You can listen to the 8 min audio at marketplace.org/arts then search Nashville Belcourt Theatre. I am not sure how long it will be available.
Had a chance to visit this Theatere over vacation & spoke to the new owner, he has great plans for the building. The theater looks great inside & out . Popcorn is made in a vintage Manley popcorn machine. I highly recommend a visit .https://startheatrewv.com/
Had a chance to visit the Ashland over vacation .This one is a beauty. There is great video posted on their web page I highly recommend a visit to this theater & their web page.
Took these shots on a recent trip to Weirton. The Plaza is situated in the back corner of a sleepy strip mall that seems to be about 50% occupied. Although building looked to be in good condition it was apparent it had been closed recently. A visit to the web site which was still active had this posted ….
…. We are sad to announce that the Plaza Theatre is closing its doors after 1.5 years and 44 feature, first run movies. The closure is effective immediately, as our owners are planning to move to Florida.
We want to thank all of our patrons, and we will be forever grateful to you for your devoted and enthusiastic support.
We also want to thank the scholars who have manned the theatre night after night, and everyone involved in the renovations and day to day operations.
The Plaza Threate has been a staple in the Weirton community for as long as we can remember, and we hope this decision is met with new opportunity with a new owner emerging, as a few have expressed interest.
Extensively used in the Foo Fighters video “ A Matter of Time ” which was coincidentally produced in & around the time of major restorations to this beautiful building. I would like to think they had something to do with saving & restoring this Theater. www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKWue-pYLzM
New Photos added 04-25-19. I have been going to this Cinema for years ,
