The online ticketing thing is great. I am sure it has helped increase box office, BUT I also think there are better films out there this summer season. I am an avid movie fan and last years film offerings were abysmal to say the least. The movies studios have got to realize they have to make better quality pictures and please don’t rehash 8 year old movies and repackage them. Give us films that feature a good plot not just one special effect after another with no plot. We will come and will buy lots of tickets!
The Eltrym won their case in court and the theatre’s grand reopening is scheduled for May 4th 2007. All of us movie goers that love the Eltrym Historic Theatre can look forward to many years of fine movies. This is a wonderful ending to an unnecessary situation. Even the former city building inspector (who worked with the owners to make sure it was redone according to code) said he wouldn’t change one thing regarding his ok'ing and signing off on the renovation of the Eltrym. He said the buiding meets code and I will be there for the reopening and look forward to seeing all of you there.
The Eltrym Historic Theatre is no longer in danger of being closed. An agreement was reached to install sprinklers! This wonderful theatre will continue to operate and be the jewel of our Baker City community.
