Saw a lot of limited distribution horror films at this one, including DAY OF THE DEAD (first film I saw here,) and EVIL DEAD 2. My most vivid non-genre memory of MC5 was seeing GOOD MORNING, VIET NAM in a sold out screening, with a column directly in front of my seat, obscuring half of the screen.
Those photos are equally chilling and fascinating. Can’t tell you how many films I saw there between 1985 and 1996. I know the first film I saw there was LIFEFORCE, and I believe the last was HELLRAISER BLOODLINES.
By ‘96, it was getting sketchy, and we switched to Hazlet until we moved out of NJ in '99. What memories.
First film I saw at this theater was GREMLINS, in which I was mildly disappointed. Just like Paul, I saw PREDATOR here on opening weekend.
